Description
Model 491600 is a complete mechanical towbar system for motorhomes based on the Fiat Ducato from 06/2006 onwards. It has been specifically designed for vehicles without factory preparation for towbar installation.
The system is suitable for coachbuilt, A-class and overcab motorhomes. It is not intended for panel vans.
Is this system suitable for your motorhome?
Model 491600 is suitable if:
- the vehicle has no factory preparation for a towbar,
- the rear overhang does not exceed 2,530 mm,
- there is no tank directly at the rear end of the chassis,
- the vehicle has no SAWIKO RA030i preparation,
- the vehicle does not have an AL-KO chassis or a non-standard chassis design.
Actual compatibility depends on the chassis design, motorhome body, rear overhang and the location of components underneath the vehicle.
Compatibility check before ordering
Before placing your order, please send us:
- photos of the vehicle chassis behind the rear wheels,
- photos of the rear end of the chassis,
- the distance from the centre of the rear axle to the end of the motorhome body,
- details of the base vehicle, motorhome manufacturer and model,
- information about tanks, pipes and other components underneath the vehicle.
We will check your vehicle configuration and confirm whether model 491600 is suitable for your motorhome.
What is included?
You will receive a complete, matched mechanical installation system consisting of:
- vehicle-specific mounting adapters,
- reinforced chassis extension with its own crossmember,
- detachable towbar carrier,
- towball neck,
- required mounting hardware,
- installation instructions.
The vehicle-specific 13-pin wiring kit is not included in the standard mechanical kit and can be ordered separately.
Technical specifications
- suitable for vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of up to 4,500 kg,
- D-value: 13.6 kN,
- system weight: approximately 70 kg,
- maximum rear overhang: 2,530 mm,
- towing capacity up to 2,300 kg for vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of 3,500 kg,
- towing capacity up to 2,000 kg for vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of 4,500 kg,
- maximum nose weight of 120 kg when towing a trailer,
- maximum load of 70 kg when using a bicycle carrier, including the combined weight of the carrier and bicycles.
The lowest permitted value stated in the vehicle documents, towbar approval and specifications provided by the vehicle, trailer or carrier manufacturer always applies.
The weight of the system reduces the available payload of the motorhome. The permitted rear axle load must also be observed.
Purpose-designed construction for motorhomes
The enclosed chassis extension has its own crossmember and additional reinforcements. Even after removing the towbar carrier, the chassis extension remains structurally stable and resistant to twisting.
The mounting adapters are also prepared for the installation of hydraulic levelling jacks, such as an AMPLO system. The towbar and hydraulic levelling system can therefore be installed together, provided that the vehicle configuration is suitable.
Professional installation
The system is installed using the designated mounting points:
- no welding required,
- no drilling into the original vehicle chassis,
- in most cases, no modification of the rear bumper is required.
Depending on the motorhome body design, a small cut-out in the bumper may be necessary. The system must be installed by a qualified workshop in accordance with the supplied installation instructions.
Other vehicle configurations
Suitable systems are available for vehicles with different chassis configurations:
- tank at the rear end of the chassis: model 371600,
- SAWIKO RA030i preparation: model 381400,
