Description

The MasterHAK 381400 is a vehicle-specific towbar for motorhomes based on the Fiat Ducato from 06/2006 onwards and equipped with a SAWIKO RA030i rear garage support structure.

The system has been specifically designed for motorhomes with an extended rear overhang. It is not a standard towbar for panel vans or commercial vans. Each installation kit is prepared according to the vehicle dimensions, rear garage support structure and the location of tanks and other underbody components.

The adjustable towball height allows the system to be matched to the rear of the motorhome and its ground clearance. The towbar can be used to tow a suitable trailer or to mount a compatible towball-mounted bicycle carrier.

Is the MasterHAK 381400 suitable for your motorhome?

Model 381400 is suitable if:

• your motorhome is based on a Fiat Ducato from 06/2006 onwards,
• a SAWIKO RA030i rear garage support structure is fitted,
• the rear overhang does not exceed 2,430 mm,
• the chassis and rear garage support structure match the intended configuration,
• tanks and other components do not obstruct installation,
• sufficient space is available at the rear end of the chassis for correct installation.

Motorhomes built on the same Fiat Ducato base can differ significantly in body length, rear garage support structure and underbody equipment. The towbar must therefore not be selected solely by vehicle make, model and year.

The stated values represent the maximum load limits of the towbar. The lowest permitted value specified in the vehicle documents, type approval, permitted rear axle load and instructions provided by the vehicle, trailer or carrier manufacturer always applies.

Type approval for the complete towbar system

The type approval covers the complete towbar system, not only the towball.

The complete system has been approved as one integrated assembly in accordance with UN Regulation No. 55.

How can you identify SAWIKO RA030i preparation?

The marking is normally located on the left-hand rear garage support structure. The designation SAWIKO RA030i should be visible on a label or structural component.

If you cannot find the marking, please send us photographs of the vehicle chassis and rear garage support structure. We will check whether the MasterHAK 381400 is suitable for your motorhome.

The MasterHAK 381400 was designed and manufactured by MasterHAK. It is not a SAWIKO product. Its construction is designed for the mounting standard used in the SAWIKO RA030i rear garage support structure.

Information required before ordering

Please send us:

• photographs of the chassis ends behind the rear wheels,
• a photograph of the left-hand rear garage support structure,
• a photograph showing the SAWIKO RA030i marking,
• photographs of tanks and other components underneath the rear of the motorhome,
• the rear-overhang measurement,
• information about an existing or planned AMPLO levelling system.

Measure the rear overhang from the centre of the rear wheel or rear axle to the furthest point of the motorhome body. Please provide this measurement in centimetres when placing your order.

We will check the information and confirm whether the MasterHAK 381400 is suitable for your motorhome.

Trailers and bicycle carriers

Once professionally installed, the towbar can be used with:

• luggage trailers,
• other trailers approved for the vehicle,
• suitable bicycle carriers,
• conventional bicycles and e-bikes carried on a compatible carrier.

The maximum static nose weight of 120 kg is a type-approved value for the towbar. When using a bicycle carrier, the distance between the towball and the load’s centre of gravity creates additional leverage forces.

You must therefore consider the weight of the carrier, the combined weight of the bicycles, the permitted rear axle load and the carrier manufacturer’s specifications.

The towbar is not designed for carrier platforms used to transport heavy motorcycles, scooters or other heavy vehicles. A motorcycle may be transported on a suitable trailer, provided that all permitted limits for the motorhome, towbar and trailer are observed.

AMPLO compatibility

The MasterHAK 381400 is compatible with the main mounting bracket of the AMPLO hydraulic levelling system designed for the SAWIKO RA030i configuration.

If an AMPLO system is already installed or a future installation is planned, please inform us before ordering. The remaining components of the levelling system must be selected according to the chassis and individual vehicle configuration.

Installation

Installing the MasterHAK 381400 requires mounting holes to be drilled in the existing chassis extensions. All components are then secured using bolted connections.

Installation:

• requires the specified mounting holes to be drilled,
• does not require welding,
• allows the towball height to be adjusted,
• must be carried out in accordance with the supplied instructions,
• should be completed by a qualified workshop experienced in motorhome body construction and towbar installation.

When is the MasterHAK 381400 not suitable?

Do not select this model if:

• the vehicle does not have a SAWIKO RA030i rear garage support structure,
• the rear overhang exceeds 2,430 mm,
• a tank at the rear end of the chassis interferes with the towbar,
• the chassis or rear garage support structure differs from the intended configuration,
• tanks or other components prevent correct installation.

For motorhomes with a tank at the rear end of the chassis, the MasterHAK 371600 may be suitable. Final selection depends on the specific vehicle configuration.

Processing time

The standard processing time is up to three working days after compatibility has been confirmed and all required photographs and measurements have been received.

Payload and axle-load limits

Installing a towbar, bicycle carrier or hydraulic levelling system does not increase:

• the motorhome’s maximum authorised mass,
• the permitted rear axle load,
• the towing capacity approved by the vehicle manufacturer.

Before first use, check the information in the vehicle documents. The weight of the bicycle carrier, bicycles, trailer, levelling system and other vehicle equipment must also be considered.

The lowest permitted limit specified for the towbar, motorhome, rear axle and installed equipment always applies.
