The MasterHAK 312807 is a vehicle-specific towbar for motorhomes based on the Fiat Ducato from 06/2006 onwards and fitted with an AL-KO chassis measuring 1,288 mm in width.

The system has been specifically designed for motorhome conversions. It is not a universal towbar for panel vans or commercial vehicles. The crossmember is attached to the AL-KO chassis using side mounting brackets and additional reinforcing braces.

The vertically detachable towball neck can be fitted and removed without tools. Once removed, no part of the towball neck projects beyond the rear of the motorhome.

Is the MasterHAK 312807 suitable for your motorhome?

Model 312807 is suitable if:

• your motorhome is based on a Fiat Ducato from 06/2006 onwards,
• the vehicle is fitted with an AL-KO chassis,
• the chassis width at the mounting point is exactly 1,288 mm,
• the required mounting points are present,
• the side brackets and reinforcing braces can be installed correctly,

The towbar is not intended for motorhomes with the standard Fiat Ducato chassis. The determining factors are the chassis type, chassis width, position of the mounting points and required height of the towbar crossmember.

The stated values represent the maximum load limits of the towbar. The lowest permitted value specified in the vehicle documents, type approval, permitted rear axle load and instructions provided by the vehicle, trailer or carrier manufacturer always applies.

Type approval for the complete towbar system

The type approval covers the complete towbar system, not only the towball.

The complete system has been approved as a Class F coupling device in accordance with UN Regulation No. 55. The type-approval documentation confirms:

What is included?

The complete installation kit includes:

• towbar crossmember,
• vertically detachable towball neck,
• side mounting brackets,
• additional reinforcing braces,
• required mounting bolts,
• installation instructions.

The standard version is supplied with straight side brackets without any drop. If the motorhome body requires a lower crossmember position, we will select the correct lowered version using the vehicle measurements.

The vehicle-specific 13-pin wiring kit is not included in the standard mechanical kit. It must be ordered separately according to the vehicle’s production year and electrical system.

Four side-bracket versions

Four bracket versions are available for positioning the towbar crossmember:

• Version 1: straight bracket without a drop,
• Version 2: 25 mm drop,
• Version 3: 50 mm drop,
• Version 4: 75 mm drop.

The correct version is determined by the position of the mounting points, the lower edge of the motorhome body and the required towball height.

Even two motorhomes with the same AL-KO chassis may require different brackets. The bracket version must therefore not be selected solely by the make or model of the motorhome body.

How to measure the AL-KO chassis width

Measure the chassis at the intended towbar mounting point, between the outer faces of the left- and right-hand longitudinal chassis members.

The required external width is exactly:

1,288 mm

Do not measure the width of the rear garage or motorhome body, or the distance between the inner faces of the chassis members.

Information required before ordering

Please send us:

• a photograph showing the complete rear chassis structure,
• the external chassis-width measurement,
• photographs and measurements of the existing mounting points,
• the height of the mounting points in relation to the lower edge of the motorhome body,
• photographs of the bumper, tanks and other components underneath the vehicle.

We will use this information to check compatibility and determine whether straight brackets or a 25, 50 or 75 mm drop are required.

Vertically detachable towball neck

The vertically detachable towball neck provides convenient everyday use. It can be fitted and removed without tools.

Once removed:

• no part of the towball neck projects beyond the rear of the vehicle,
• the risk of hitting the towball while loading or unloading is reduced,
• the rear of the motorhome retains its clean appearance.

Before every journey, check that the towball neck is correctly fitted and fully locked.

Maximum towing capacity

The technically permitted towing capacity of the MasterHAK 312807 depends on the motorhome’s maximum authorised mass:

• up to 2,500 kg for a vehicle with a maximum authorised mass of 3,500 kg,
• up to 2,158 kg for a vehicle with a maximum authorised mass of 4,500 kg.

These figures do not mean that every motorhome is permitted to tow a trailer of the stated weight. Before use, check the permitted towing capacity, gross train weight, chassis limits and actual vehicle weight.

The lowest permitted limit specified for the towbar, motorhome or trailer always applies.

Nose weight for trailers and bicycle carriers

The maximum static nose weight when towing a trailer is 120 kg.

When using a bicycle carrier, the maximum load is 70 kg. This includes the combined weight of the bicycle carrier and all bicycles carried on it.

You must also consider:

• the distance between the load’s centre of gravity and the towball,
• the carrier manufacturer’s specifications,
• the permitted rear axle load,
• the motorhome’s actual loaded weight.

The towbar is not designed for carrier platforms used to transport heavy motorcycles or scooters.

Installation on the AL-KO chassis

The crossmember is attached to the AL-KO chassis using side brackets and reinforcing braces. Selecting the correct brackets allows the towball height to be matched to the motorhome body.

Before installation, the following must be confirmed:

• chassis width of 1,288 mm,
• position and spacing of the mounting points,
• required side-bracket version,
• sufficient space to install the reinforcing braces,
• correct towball height above the road.

Installation must be carried out by a qualified workshop experienced in AL-KO chassis, motorhome body construction and towbar installation.

When is the MasterHAK 312807 not suitable?

Do not select this model if:

• the motorhome does not have an AL-KO chassis,
• the chassis width differs from 1,288 mm,
• the mounting points do not match the bracket design,
• none of the four bracket versions provides the correct towball height,
• tanks or other components prevent correct installation,
• the vehicle’s permitted limits do not allow the planned towing or nose load.

Processing time

The standard processing time is up to three working days after compatibility has been confirmed, the correct bracket version has been selected and all required photographs and measurements have been received.
